HSIE Staffrooms can be found in the A block and Second floor of the C Block. Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) is the key learning area in which students develop knowledge, understandings, skills, and values and attitudes about people and their social and physical environments. Learning experiences in these subjects, students will develop knowledge and essential understandings about Australia’s history and geography, the people who live within its territory and their social, cultural, economic and political lives. They will learn about Australians, European influences, the original occupation of Australia by Aboriginal people and Australia’s shared history, Australia in the context of the Asian and Pacific regions and the world, and other cultures in the world.  The subjects taught in HSIE at South Sydney High School are: World Geography - Stage 4 (Years 7 and 8) World History - Stage 4 (Years 7 and 8) Australian Geography - Stage 5 (Years 9 and 10) Australian History - Stage 5 (Years 9 and 10) Commerce - Stage 5 (Years 9 and 10) Senior Geography - Stage 6 (Year 11 and 12) Business Studies - Stage 6 (Years 11 and 12) Economics - Stage 6 (Years 11 and 12) Legal Studies - Stage 6 (Years 11 and 12) Retail - Stage 6 (Years 11 and 12) Business Services - Stage 6 (Years 11 and 12) Modern History - Stage 6 ( Years 11 and 12) Ancient History - Stage 6 (Years 11 and 12) Extension Hisotry - Stage 6 (Years 11 and 12)    A large emphasis is placed on building citizenship values throughout all HSIE subjects that promotes social equity and justice learning to all students. Information and Technology (ICT) is also a major priority towards achieving outcomes and goals in all HSIE subjects.
